Bucharest Writers at Suțu Palace – Readings and Conversations about the City Event within Bucharest Days 2025

Bucharest, a city that remains an inexhaustible source of literary inspiration, is the focus of an evening of readings and conversations with contemporary writers. Doina Ruști, Dinu Flămând, Adrian Majuru, Ana Iorga, Iren Mate and other guests will read and speak about the city at Suțu Palace, one of Bucharest’s cultural landmarks, as part of Bucharest Days 2025. Suțu Palace — the headquarters of the Muzeul Municipiului București — dedicates a series of special events to the city in 2025, including an evening with contemporary Bucharest writers invited to read from their works and speak about the capital.

The event is part of the Zilele Bucureștiului program and will take place on September 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM, at Suțu Palace, 2 I.C. Brătianu Boulevard, Bucharest.

The evening offers an exploration of the literature of Bucharest, an inexhaustible narrative space that continues to inspire writers from different generations. The program includes author readings, previously unpublished fragments, and conversations about the city.

Participants

  • Doina RUȘTI
    Novelist, author of the novels The Ghost in the Mill (2008) and Lizoanca at Eleven.

  • Dinu FLĂMÂND
    A distinguished poet, translator, journalist at Radio France, and diplomat.

  • Adrian MAJURU
    Historian, anthropologist, and journalist. His most recent book is the novel The Thief from the Court of Miracles (2023), which received the Ficțiunea Prize for Best Character.

  • Roxana DUMITRACHE
    Author of the volume Papa Nicolau and Other Very, Very Short Stories, which won the Polirom Debut Prize.

  • Andrei NOVAC
    Poet and member of the Romanian Writers’ Union, author of eight poetry collections.

  • ANA IORGA
    Television presenter (Antena 3 CNN) and linguist at the Institute of Linguistics of the Romanian Academy.

  • Cătălin D. CONSTANTIN
    Associate professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest, specializing in anthropology and cultural studies.

  • Péter Demény
    Poet, novelist, translator, and blogger. Author of the novel The Splendid Boar (2020).

  • Dan PLEȘA
    Editor, writer, and cultural journalist. Author of the group anthology Marfă and the novel Black Honey.

  • Petre NECHITA
    Journalist, television reporter, and prose writer.

The evening will be moderated by actor Raoul Alexis Ipate, who will also present a short performance dedicated to Ion Luca Caragiale.

The event is organized by the Muzeul Municipiului București, with the support of the Bucharest City Hall, in partnership with the literary magazine Ficțiunea.
