he Mantua Literature Festival is one of the most prestigious and competitive literary events in Europe, a place where writers, publishers, critics, and readers meet to exchange ideas and reflect on the future of books.
In 2021, Doina Ruști received her first invitation to the festival and traveled to Mantua together with Roberto Merlo, professor at the University of Turin, writer, and translator of her novel The Little Red Man (L’omino rosso, Sandro Teti Editore, Rome, 2021) - https://doinarusti.ro/roman/omuletul-rosu/en/index.html
Among the festival events, Doina Ruști took part in a radio dialogue in Mantua, [Panorama Internazionale], together with Simonetta Bitasi, in conversation and live translation by Roberto Merlo. The discussion focused on writing, reading, literary circulation, and the transformations of contemporary literature.
The radio conversation offered an open and dynamic exchange, allowing the author to reflect on narrative forms, readership, and the changing role of literature in today’s cultural landscape.
During the festival, Ruști also reunited with writers and friends previously met at other international literary events, reinforcing a network built through years of European literary presence.
The invitation to Mantua and the radio dialogue confirm the growing international visibility of her work and position Doina Ruști within a European context of literary exchange.
