The novel Zogru by Doina Ruști will be featured at the Festival du Livre de Paris, in an event dedicated to contemporary Romanian literature, taking place on April 22, at 6:30 PM, at the Romanian stand (B33), inside Le Grand Palais Éphémère, located in Place Joffre, 75007 Paris.
The author will be joined by Florica Courriol, the translator of the French edition of the novel, and Iulia Badea-Guéritée, journalist and moderator of the discussion. The event will conclude with a book signing session.
First published in Romania, Zogru is one of Doina Ruști’s emblematic novels—a story that moves across centuries, blending the history of Bucharest with legend, the fantastic, and a profound reflection on identity. The French edition was published in 2022 by Les Éditions du Typhon (Marseille), in the Les Hallucinés collection, with the support of the Jan Michalski Foundation, translated by Florica Courriol.
Recently, a new Romanian edition of the novel was released by Litera Publishing House, confirming the sustained interest in a book widely regarded as one of the most original epic constructions in contemporary Romanian literature.
The presence of Zogru at the Festival du Livre de Paris is part of a broader program promoting Romanian literature in the Francophone space and has been covered by numerous Romanian media outlets, including București FM, Adevărul, Agerpres, Radio Romania International, Jurnalul, Amos News, Ediția de dimineață, Filologisme, Răsfoiala, and ZiareLive.
