The novel Nas de bulgar, recently published by Humanitas, has begun its journey toward readers on a strong note. During the week of April 20–26, it appeared in the Humanitas Top 10 bestselling books in Humanitas bookshops, in a selection that brings together fiction, essays, science, and contemporary nonfiction.
“For me, every encounter with readers matters. The fact that Nas de bulgar has found its way to them so quickly is a good sign and one of the joys I had hoped for,” says Doina Ruști.
The book continues, in a different key, the universe of Ferenike, last year’s Humanitas bestseller, and opens a narrative path in which love, memory, and Balkan history come together in a story about identity, seduction, and survival.
An autobiographical novel, a love story, and an exploration of the Balkan imaginary, Nas de bulgar follows the way personal memory and ancient history touch, merge, and alter the destiny of its characters.
The novel is available in Humanitas bookshops and also online.
