Doina Ruști to The 3rd EU‑China International Literary Festival:Guangzhou și Shenzhen:

The European Union organizes an annual major literature festival in China. The third edition took place in the former Canton area (Guangzhou and Shenzhen) between November 18 and 26. Nine European countries participated, including Romania, represented by Doina Ruști with one of her recent novels, Mâța Vinerii (The Book of Perilous Dishes). My participation in this festival was my first extended literary experience in China and opened a dialogue that would continue a year later through my residency at the Lu Xun Academy of Literature in Beijing. Cultural Exchange in Literary Circles: Dialogue between Chinese and European Writers of Contemporary Literature

“In an old letter, I read that a chancellor of the French consulate in Bucharest had supposedly been sold to the galleys. Trying to trace his fate, I discovered that the man had inexplicably disappeared from Bucharest on a bright autumn day. And this disappearance is connected to the story of a fabulous cook. This is where my novel Mâța Vinerii (The Book of Perilous Dishes) begins.”
